About

Dr. John L. Ricci is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomaterials at NYU College of Dentistry. He is the Director of the Masters Program in Biomaterials Science at NYU College of Dentistry, and the Director of the Biomaterials PhD Training Track at the Sackler Institute at NYU School of Medicine. He is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research (Part B, Applied Biomaterials) and Implant Dentistry, reviews for several additional journals, is a member of OKU, and is a Fellow of Biomaterials Science and Engineering. His active areas of research involve cell and tissue response to permanent and resorbable biomaterials and implants. He has developed in vitro and in vivo experimental models for the controlled investigation of bone and soft tissue response to biomaterials, and is actively investigating and developing technologies for enhancing tissue repair and regeneration including 3-dimensional printing technologies, and advanced surface modification techniques to enhance tissue integration of implants. He has been a consultant on many corporate research and product development projects, and was one of the founding members of Orthogen LLC. Dr. Ricci teaches biomaterials for several programs comprising Masters and PhD programs, Dental School Programs, Post-Graduate Dental programs, and continuing education programs.
